I haven't seen a cab stand at the Coliseum. But a call to the hotel should clear it up. But if the shuttle picks up on Snell / BART parking lot, you will have to turn right and go through the underpass. If on San Leandro St, you turn left after going through the fare gates and and look for the shuttle from safely inside the station. The question for LQ is where their 24/7 shuttle will pick you up. Then i think you will need to gi through the gates and exit the paid fare zones. The platform as mentioned previously is upstairs where the train stops. I spend quite a lot of time at the Coliseum so here's my $0.02
That way the driver won't get confused trying to figure out which side of the station you'll be coming from. Just be sure to indicate your exact desired pick-up location by adjusting your pin.
You can hail them using a smartphone app and get notified when they are approaching the station, plus they typically cost less than taxis. Also, rather than using a taxi, consider Uber or Lyft instead. The station itself is okay, but definitely don't wander into the neighborhood. Just try not to look like a lost tourist with lots of money and you will be fine. They typically wait there during all BART operating hours.Ĥ. Like most BART stations, there are cabs waiting just outside the station. Waiting in the gated area may attract the attention of the station agent, which isn't a big deal, but it might catch the attention of any wandering panhandlers.Ģ. However, assuming La Quinta will call you a few minutes before arrival, I recommend waiting on the station platform instead. Would you recommend staying within the paid zones until my shuttle arrives or I see a cab that I can pop into?Ģ) How frequently are there cabs around that area around 9-11pm?ģ) Is there any difference on the nights during the weekend vs during the week?Ĥ) Any other general tips on what to do/not to do? I've even found some suggestions online about what not to -wear-, but I'm not sure how reliable that advice is.ġ. There will be no wandering the streets at night!ġ) Within the station, I'm assuming there are gated fare areas. On the bright side, LaQuinta offers a free courtesy shuttle to/from the Coliseum BART so I do have that peace of mind (and I certainly plan on taking a cab should the shuttle be unavailable for any reason).
Lesson learned, but I don't have $700 to just up and throw away so I'll have to stick with this one. I have never been to Oakland and made the mistake of booking before researching. I will be there for a few nights, and also unfortunate is that my schedule will have me returning late at night (around 10pm) on BART. So I have had the unfortunate predicament of being locked into a hotel reservation (LaQuinta) in the area of Oakland Coliseum.
